New-Jersey-Photographer- Pool with floating flowers

We were so excited to get an invite for our friends Paty and Cory. Cory has been one of my oldest friends and I was elated was getting married. It came a crazy time in our life since it would be my husband and I’s first vacation 9 months after our son was born. We flew from Las Vegas to Mexico City and hopped on a smaller plane to Acapulco. Our friends set us up with a 5-star driver named Roberto. He showed up in a decked-out SUV and offered us tequila before we hit the road to the resort. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort called Princess Mundo Imperial. They had some of the biggest margaritas at the pool bar. Later some of us decided to adventure to El Centro which is an open market in the middle of town. Kind of sketchy looking and didn’t see a lot of tourists but with our driver helping us navigate some of his favorite places we found a lot of local gems. If you’ve never been to certain parts of Mexico it’s very common to have local law enforcement patrolling in trucks with a lot of firepower attached to them. It’s a good travel tip to let the US embassy and DHS know you are traveling out of a country that has a known heavy cartel presence, but with that said just be vigilant and cautious when traveling anywhere.

The wedding was at a private club called Suhka y Sal in Acapulco Mexico. Our friends had an intimate wedding with 55-60 (I forget) of their closest people. The food was terrific and the staff was excellent. Not pictured were the late-night snacks we had after 2 am. The next day we relaxed at the newly married couple’s suite that had a vista view of the bay. The next day for the people that were still around we gathered for a farewell brunch at La Finca which was a small but delicious restaurant not far from our hotel.

I can see why Acapulco was such a big tourist attraction in the 50-60. One of these days we will be back to visit more of the local spots and learn more history of the area.
