There’s a certain magic to a love story that feels like coming home. For Gillian and John, their journey began not with a spark but with a friendly foundation that had been there all along. They shared a prom limo in high school, but it wasn’t until a simple “Happy Birthday” message in 2021 that their story truly began. A month of phone calls led to their first date—a New York Red Bulls game where a spicy chicken sandwich and endless conversation were the start of something special.

The Moment They Knew: A Love That Feels Like Home

It was during these early days that they both knew they had found their person. For Gillian, John simply “feels like home.” For John, the moment was sealed watching Gillian coach high school soccer. He saw her warmth, her vivacious personality, and the meaningful connections she effortlessly made with her players. Her passion for the sport and her ability to make everyone feel comfortable was the exact moment he knew she was the one.

A Surprise Engagement on the Soccer Field

Their engagement story is just as memorable and perfectly captures their playful spirit. It all happened at the end of soccer preseason. Gillian, a coach herself, was thrown into a panic when her players started yelling about a star goalie being hurt. Sprinting out onto the field, she found a crowd of players surrounding the “injured” teammate. But as she got closer, the group dispersed, revealing John on one knee with a stunning ring. It was a beautiful, heartfelt moment that speaks to their unique bond and shared passions.

A Vision for a Lifetime Together

When it came to their North Jersey engagement photos around downtown Clinton. We also made a stop at the Hunterdon Art Museum, Gillian and John’s love radiated. Their easygoing nature and deep connection were a joy to capture. From their first meeting to their surprise engagement, their story is a testament to finding love in the most unexpected places. As they look ahead to their wedding, they’re most excited about starting their life together as a single unit, surrounded by the people who have been the foundation of their lives and love. They hope to be that sweet old couple, dancing to ’90s rap in their garden, wearing matching sweatpants, and always knowing they’re each other’s “best things since sliced bread.” Their love is a beautiful slow burn, and it’s an honor to be a small part of their story.
